A Time Machine for Windows ... sounds good!![]()
Full Disclosure - I work for Altaro Software
Hi,
Good morning or good evening. It's 6:46am here - based in sunny Malta - a small island in the Med!
We are a new software company (Altaro Software) and we are developing a backup / version control product called 'Oops! Backup'. Oops! Backup is a hybrid between a traditional software backup product and a lightweight version control system. Oops! Backup automatically tracks changes to documents, photos and other files and allows you to backtrack to any point in time. To a certain extent it is a Time Machine for Windows - we did get influenced by it - and I don't think that's a bad thing.
We will be going into BETA in about 3 weeks time and are looking for BETA testers - anyone willing to give it a try check out fill in the form here. We will obviously give a free license for the BETA testers that download and test the product.
Oops! Backup has a great graphical interface to go back in time and restore files You can see product screenshots here.
A list of features for this software backup product here.
Your opinions and constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated(would love to hear the bad stuff ... more than the good stuff)
Before sending this I asked the site admins and they allowed me to post

WOAH! Interface is neat![]()
Hey Thanks
We invested a lot in user experience and eye candy - in that order. Eye candy does not imply user experience
Look forward to make it available to BETA testers!

"Free license" ??? Of the final product?
Yes - a free license of the backup software Oops! Backup - final release version .. if it is a free license for BETA only then it would not be an appreciation token for BETA testers ah?

What does a beta tester have to do? Download and install it, and send experience report, is that it? Would the program also send automated error reports, if any?
Cool beans. Just signed up.![]()
David, Do you need unallocated space to mount backup volumes (like e.g. Paragon or Shadow Protect) or is "normal" freespace inside a primary partition on a second internal or an external drive sufficient.
PS: I signed up too. Sounds interesting.
