The new deadline is January 11th, 2010. I will edit the original announcement as well.

Also, I want to mention a feature of my present theme. If you notice, there is a transistional effect to the header. This is done by uploading separate header graphics and setting the time of fade as well as the duration of each image.
You may want to take this into account when designing a header, although it is not a necessary qualification.
