IE9 installed but does not start
Have installed IE9 (Win 7ultimate RTM).
Is listed under updates.
When clicking nothing happens.

Hello ddinc and welcome to TWC. Quick question. Have you installed all the latest updates from Microsoft? Can you run Windows Update and it connect? If so, try checking for updates and make sure you install the latest updates. Also try going to internet options: Start Menu\Control Panel\Internet Options\Advanced and check the first box: Use software rendering...........
After doing these steps try running IE9 again.
Also are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of Win7. If using 64Bit version, try running the 32Bit version and see if it will run

Uninstall Internet Explorer 9 from the Control panel, and then reinstall it.
Else, run Internet Explorer Performance troubleshooter. The troubleshooter will run and fix all identified issues automatically.
To open the Internet Explorer Performance troubleshooter directly use:
%systemroot%\system32\msdt.exe -id IEBrowseWebDiagnostic

i have the same problem.
earlier today i reinstalled IE9-32, as i wanted to do some tests.
but, it doesnīt start properly, it shows the main page for about 1 second, then itīs goodbye.
taskmanager shows no processes running after the initial seconds.
please could someone that has IE9 working, download a fresh copy from microsoft and install it ?
i suspect there is something wrong with the downloaded files.

i had IE9 working previously, but since it was horrrible i uninstalled the "upgrade" from IE8.

Hackerman, have you tried downloading IE9 from the alternate download page? if not uninstall IE9 and download from the following location and see if maybe this helps (Got this looking through the IE9 Fixit pages).

Also, may or may not be relevant for everyone but if you are using any third party antivirus, firewall or internet security try disabling those while trying to load IE9. Also if you have any installed toolbars, ad blockers................. try removing those as well before running IE9.

Also if stil no luck, Hackerman, I am pretty sure I have the install I used to install IE9 on my backup drive, I'll look and if you like I'll send it to you.

thanks L.W, but i already got IE9 working !
iīve spent the last hours checking firewall, hips & antivirus for any "blocks"...
i found the problem:
yesterday i changed the "default install directory" in the registry to: "E:\Program files", as i install everything on my program-partion.
a bit later i decided to test IE9 again, and it didnīt work.
but, tonight after i had restored "default install directory" to "C:\Program files" i got IE9 running.
of course i tried to copy IE from E: to C:, but that didnīt work, so it seems that IE must be installed on C:

middle-click should be reload tab, not close....
