I do not believe there is a way to do this with Yahoo Mail and to double check I opened my old yahoo mail account and went through all the settings and did not find a way to do this.

do you mean to go straight to the INBOX, when you login ?

    i just tried it.
i logged in, copied the INBOX-URL & logged out,
then i entered the URL in the addressbar, logged in again, and yes, i see the INBOX....

the last part of the URL is "&.rnd=11264546545" or similar, delete that part & copy the rest of the URL.
    save the URL.
enter the URL in the addressbar, log in, you should see the INBOX.
but, if that doesnt work then you might have to experiment yourself...

but, why read your email using a webinterface ?
why not use a email-client (program) instead ?
there are many free programs available, maybe Thunderbird is the best....

You are able to do this :
Click Options at the top of the Yahoo Mail page
Go to General Options and check the box for Inbox: Show on startup, then it will save the changes as you leave the page
