Red face Cannot download an EXE file using Edge

    Hello,

I am a new member and glad to join your group.
Please note that I am French speaking and therefore my English will be at best average.

Since a few days, Edge refuses to download exe files. I need to download file in order to update the additional softs installed on my PC.
Edge modifies the file extension so that "program.exe" becomes "program_exe.txt". It than confirms the download failure and record a zero byte file on my PC. I use three PC's all with Windows 10 and all fully updated with full anti virus protection.

This problem with Edge only happens with one of the PC.

Chrome works fine and if a can not solve the Edge issue, I will move to Chrome for the 3 PC's.

    Have a nice day

    Jeanjo

Have you tried to use the context menu "save target as"? Or you can try to manually rename the file to .txt and after the download change it back to .exe. This might work.
Otherwise just use another browser as a workaround.

I tried save as .exe and the result is a download failure. I also have the same problem with other files such as .gpx files used for the Garmin map system.
New this morning is Error HTTP 400 message and when I try to sign in for my bank account, the sign in option is not available any more on the bank home page !!!
Looks like Edge is getting out of control with the security options.

I prefer Edge but I run on Chrome for the time being.

    Thanks

    Thanks,
Download is authorized and I reinitialized all Internet parameters anyway, no changes.
Downloading exe type files still impossible with Edge.
But I am getting use of Chrome and I will soon be 100% Chrome.

In fact, I have two more problems with Edge: (1) Edge is not compatible with the Belgian electronic passport (2) With my tablets, Edge crashes the network driver control every hour or so.

Very poor stuf and badly supported
