I'm sure I had this same problem late last year after upgrading WLM and if my memory is good it had nothing to do with the firewall and the fix was to flush dns, reboot modem then reboot PC. Might be worth a try, sure won't hurt.

I had the same problem awhile back and seems like a help forum directed me to doing that as well to get mine going

ritesh, sometimes the ISP may also have problem, where some links open and some dont, I have experienced it. May be due to DNS prob.
Sometimes restarting your modem or changing DNS may work out. As you say Gtalk, Messenger not working while other links were working.

Actually I figured out the problem that was causing the error, and vasudev you were right it was my DNS settings, the last i remember was my DNS address was something other, than what I defined.

May be that has caused the problem anyway thanks members for helping me.

That's nice, ritesh. Reg DNS prob, you can also try ipconfig/flushdns from command prompt. Try settingobtain DNS auto in Local area con prop .
If all your local DNS not working, replace them and try OpenDNS.
So dont just straight away format try these things.
Most of the times its ISP prob

Too fast..man Formatting/re-installation of Windows must be the last option.
