Exclamation Windows Live movie maker runs for 7 secs

Whatever I load I see nothing and the blank movie runs for 7 secs, if I load another movie it runs for 14 secs.
I have tried repair and even remove and reinstall but no difference.
    I would appreciate some help
It is the latest version as I have just reinstalled today and I have Windows 7 Pro 64.
    Thanks
    Rocky

What's the file type? Its extension ? If you are saving as a project, save as a movie as mobile device settings and try.
    Have you installed any codecs?
Can you run that movie in Windows media player ?

I can't get as far as saving, I can't load. I want to edit an mpg file but have tried as experimentation other files, I can load avi and wmv but mpeg files also cause the same "7 sec" phenomina.

Yes the move runs fine in Windows media player

    Thanks

You could convert it to .wmv or .avi with Format Factory - Free media file format converter

    Hi Rocky
As WHS said u can convert the mpg files first.
Or make sure you have appropriate codecs installed.
Are these mpg movies are from your camera/camcorder ? If yes then install the software that came with ur camera.
