Default Windows Live Mail (Desktop) vs. Windows Live Hotmail (browser)

What way do you prefer to read your email?

I previously used Windows Live Mail (Desktop) bundled with Messenger. But now that Hotmail works super smooth in Internet Explorer 9 & includes messenger, the desktop version seems redundant. Using the browser savings firing up two additional programmes.

Microsoft appears to be concentrating their energy on Internet Explorer & Hotmail.com.

I agree to a point, Microsoft does look to be focusing its energies on improving IE9 and Hotmail.com. Comparatively, I do find my Windows Live Hotmail (desktop) to be sluggish at times and quite a bit of a resource hog. But I nevertheless prefer to sue it because of the convenience. It remains in my system tray and notifies me when mail arrives. You need not have Messenger load when WLM does; you can always seperate the two.

    Therefore prefer using WLM (desktop).

IE9 notifies you of new emails if you 'pin' Windows Live Hotmail to the task bar on Windows 7. I'm still running Vista so haven't tried this.

And yeah, I've observed WLM desktop is a bit of a resource hog at times.

I haven't figured out how to do this. I need to run Messenger for WLM desktop to work.

I downloaded an update for WLM essentials yesterday, though I haven't noticed anything different.

I use Web version for my primary Live ID to use "Sweep" feature. And i noticed that Live web is getting more more faster.

I until a few weeks ago used Windows Live Mail to access my Gmail and Hotmail accounts and also my RSS feeds. But now I use Google Reader for RSS and has pinned both Gmail and Hotmail to my taskbar.
