Twitter's New Bird Flying Across The World
The ole Twitter bird has now gone for an image makeover. The latest Twitter bird with a new look was unveiled by the microblogging service in a blog post. Though the new Twitter bird looks a lot like the old Twitter bird, bbut in fact it is an simplified version of the old bird of a Twitter. With the new bird logo, Twitter does away with other Twitter symbols.
Since the last six yeas, the old Twitter bird was flying across the world & we all became familiar with it. But from now onwards, you will begin to notice a simplified Twitter bird. This bird will be the universally recognizable symbol of Twitter. There’s no longer a need for text, bubbled typefaces, or a lowercase “t” to represent Twitter.
"New Twitter bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility."
Twitter, which allows its members to post brief comments, links or pictures, claims to have more than 140 million active users, with the largest number being in the United States. Happy Tweeting :-)
Twitter announcement via blog post - couldn't even use it's own service to announce something... (Joking, of course).
It's not as bad as the Tropicana redesign, but still a bad idea from a branding standpoint.
Its close enough to the original design to still be recognizable, but I didn't see the need for a new bird logo, really.
