I agree.. prices seem to be little on the higher side. Though i don't think Microsoft would be doing that !
A Swedish website has listed Microsoft Surface Tablet among products available for pre-order. Assuming a conversion rate of 1000 SEK = 143 USD, the costs work out APPROXIMATELY as follows:
Windows RT with 1 GB RAM and 32 GB of flash memory costs $999. The one with 64 GB of flash memory, costs $1428.
The Windows 8 Pro tablet 64 GB version will cost $1857, while the 128 GB flash version costs about $2143.
Even if the prices are indicative and may vary from country to country, it looks quite expensive ... if it is true ...

If it's true, I won't be buying. Out of my price range. If it's to compete with the iPad, it should be comparable in price, even if specs are slightly better. You can't sell a Ferrari in a VW dealership.
They look amazing, but Pro would have to at ~$999 and Win-RT at $599 for me to bite.

I read somewhere that this is not true. That website has erred and that the pricing is not correct.
If it is a lot more than $250, I'll buy the Google Nexus7 tablet.
Unlike others, you were wise enough to question the validity of the information. The Swedish site has since recanted, saying they made up the prices. Ed Bott was having lots of fun on Twitter today pointing out the sites that fell for the false pricing.

Analyst: Surface windows 8 tablet Price range, RT and Pro
yeah it is a bit expensive, but really very useful. The slim and light touch-friendly tablet As per the Microsoft Surface Windows 8 Pro, has starting price of $899. Surface RT, by contrast, starts at $499.
The base RT seems priced pretty well compared to the iPad, I would say.
