    Windows Theme Installer updated to v 1.1. It automatically patches the system files without the need of a 3rd party system file patcher. If the system files are already patched then it does nothing. To restore the patched files you will need to use Universal Theme Patcher or UxStyle Core.

    I was concerned about a suspicious file: "C:\Windows\UTP.exe" in the windows directory.

    There's no details about the file in the explorer properties and anubis.iseclab.org reports some strange behavior... (Virus Total reports nothing except a Symantec: Suspicious.Insight)

    But finally, Comodo Instant Malware Analysis showed me a mutex name: "UniversalThemePatcher" which led me to you... Could you confirm that Windows Theme Installer create this file?

    Hash values:
    CRC-32: 49248ffb
    MD5: a0b1f8379a8cdb1c5c1cf4abeb2b9bbf

    Nope. It's not compatible with 64-bit.

    Yep. Windows Theme Installer created this file to patch the system files required. I can assure you that it's a false positive.

    Looks promising... but no matter what theme I have tried to install, when I try to Apply it all that happens is that the system shuts Aero down and reverts to the plain, Win9X look... am I missing something here?

    Thanks...

    Runnint Win7 Ultimate 64x, btw.

    Ooops! Might want to highlight that.. I just wasted some of your bandwidth trying it on 64bit.

    Will there be 64 bit support? What part of this app doesn't actually work in 64 bit? I ask because I installed it and used it to delete a few themes and it worked for that. However when I clicked "Restore Defaults" to restore the .dll files it gave me a unhandled exception. Not sure if this is where the support is missing or if this is an exception the program needs to catch for user.

    Other then that, great app and thank you!

    Here is exception error:

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    I really dig this tool - I would like to say however - can you please add a place to browse and change the imageres.dll as well? that would kick ass. Hell you could even add one for the windows media center ehres.dll as well.
    I sent this over to another forum and I guess some don't care for it. Oh well.........

    Thanks much

    Question Universal Theme Patcher (UTP.exe) file detected as Security Risk.

    I did some research on the file and found the file to only appear after I attempted to run the Windows Theme Installer, it never appeared as an alert before, but for some reason when I ran it this time it came up as a security risk.

    Please let me know if this is truly a false positive and restore it back to my system from Quarantined or if this is should remain in Quarantine.
