Can you start Windows 10 in Safe Mode?
If you can, then carry out a system restore to a prior good point.

I recently had a problem where Windows 10 hung up while turning on. The spinning marbles (or whatever it is called) just kept spinning - for hours. We used to be able to use a Function Key to select booting options and get to a safe mode boot. No longer. So the question is, how do you get to a safe mode boot if you cannot get logged in?
I did find a solution, but it is kludgey at best. I had to a) remove the laptop's battery, b)plug in power cord, c)turn on pc and d)when the spinning starts, pull the plug. Repeat steps b, c, and d. Repeat again. This time, Windows recognized a problem and got me to the system replair screens so I could get to safe mode boot.
Is this really what we are left with? It seems like we have de-engineered the pc, no?
Or is there a better way that I missed?
This might work.
