In Windows 10, open Settings > System > Default apps.

Scroll down till you see Reset to Microsoft recommended defaults and click on Reset.

If you are using Windows 8 or Windows 7, you will see a similar setting somewhere in Control Panel > Default Programs.

If this does not help, create a system restore point first and then try this:

Open regedit and navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts

Expand FileExts. Here you will see a list of file extension folders. You will have to expand each of them, one after the other, and IF you see a UserChoice folder under it, delete the UserChoice folder.

Else you can download File Association Fixer v2 for Windows 10/8 and restore each file association manually.

Having done this do remember to scan your PC with your antivirus software.

In Windows 10 there is no UserChoice option. So what next?

I said "IF you see a UserChoice folder under it, delete the UserChoice folder". If you dont see it, nothing you need to do.

Apart from my above suggestions, perhaps you should also scan your PC with your antivirus software.
