tweakwindows, thanks for the tip. I'll check it out - whether it works on W7. For the time being, Rocket Dock works OK, but it is always good to have options.
nitinagarwal, it is just called AppLauncher. But for some reason I cannot find it any more on the net. I still have the .exe. If you want, I can upload it to Skydrive for you. Let me know.
no problem. Make sure you keep all the shortcuts that you drag into the AppLauncher window in the sidebar in a folder on the desktop. When Applauncher looses the path to the shortcut, the icon will not function. So:
1. put all shortcuts into a folder on the desktop
2. drag the shortcuts from that folder into the AppLauncher window
3. keep the folder with the shortcuts on the desktop
thanks sir, your app launcher gadget is awesome, i permanently disabled the sidebar, but your app make me use it again, it is very handy and easy to use with lots of customizable features, i am searching for this type of widget for seven, as i find i will notify you.......
nitin, here is another good trick (that you might already know). Create a folder on the desktop > put a couple of shortcuts into it - just for testing > grab the folder and push it all the way into the top of your screen (really up,up) and release the clicker (you may have to try a few times) > now you have a toolbar for all icons in the folder we created > right click on the toolbar and you can make all kinds of handy settings (I like the "hide" function).
Any additional shortcut you put into said folder will appear in the toolbar. The icons in the toolbar can be dragged around to reorder the sequence.
This technique works in XP and Vista, but NOT in W7 Beta.
