Unhappy Stuck in unending Windows Update loop

A couple of weeks ago (after failed attempt to upgrade to Win10) my CPU is constantly wanting to reboot to install updates....but never does. I can work only by choosing to postpone 4 hours but cannot get rid of the nag to reboot. If I reboot it just does this over and over.

Tried removing KB3033929 and going to earlier restore point but that has no effect.
    Cannot find any failed updates?

I'd like to upgrade to 10 but no attempt to do that works either. I will post about that in separate thread to avoid confusion because I may need to resolve this update loop first to be able to update to 10.

Any clue how to do this? I am already back to the oldest restore point I have to no avail.

I did change auto update to download but ask me to update but that does nothing.

    Thanks for any help.

You should delete the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder and then try Windows Update. See Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes and We couldn’t complete the updates, Undoing changes.
