Default Windows 8 will not boot in one of the two users

    Hi,

for some reason today I signed in as usual & it boots in a black empty screen with a small window saying " Windows explorer is not responding".

in CTRL-ALT DEL I choose change user to "Administrator" & it boots OK.

On this user I do not have all my usual progs & dada.

Any way to recover this situation? ....thanx ....nick

Default Windows 8 will not boot for one user

    Hello,

Remove all the third-party software existing on your system. Try following command in administrative Windows PowerShell:

    Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

    Hope this helps, Good luck

Under the Admin account I would think that your first step would be to do a system restore to before the issue.

You could also use the Admin account to save ALL data and then create another user account. Your Admin account may not show all your programs/data as to icons but they should be there. Then copy data from the old account to the new. Once proven you would delete the old account.

You should not loose the dual boot but, even if you do, it is easily restored with EasyBCD
    EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies
    Note the free version.

    SOLVED

    Thanx,

When this happened a security program appeared (Reilaxxx?? something) sayng my PC is corrupt.

I checked in cntrl panel & found it there so Uninstalled it.

Then scanned PC with my free AVG.

Then booted in Safe mode & came out.

Rebooted & it found my usual User.

Still not sure how the problem went away but, feel very luckyyyyyy. .......nick
