Default Phase 2 of Microsoft's Ad Campaign - 09-18-2008, 05:33 PM

First of all, as I posted recently the Jerry-Gates ad series was NOT canceled as posted by Valleyvag. Those were teasers confirmed by Microsoft's press pass.

Here is presenting to you the phase 2 of the ad campaign - Life Without Walls, these are currently stills and there is a typo on the press pass page also.

Please follow this link to see the ads. Sample:

And as promised here is the typo. screen-shot:

Here is the video of the advert:

Here is the official website of the entire campaign: Windows

Though the concept that people who make the world tick use the PC is good, I for some reason find it a sort of desperate step to salvage the little respect of the PC courtesy 'Get a Mac' ads.

I feel that, the concept that people who count, use a PC, looks cool. I find the ad direct, racy and easy to relate to. Could be that Microsoft has got it right now. The I'm a Mac - I'm a PC ads are so well known, that it just might be a good idea to use them to turn the tables around.

Maybe in the next phase we will see Microsofts version of 'and I'm a Mac' ads being aired.

I loved the concept and yeah, that seems to be the way the campaign is moving.

I can definitely say that the $300M is being put to creative use. Thus far I have loved all the print & commercial ads.

I love the ads. I'm A PC. Yeah!

I love the ads. I'm a PC, you got a problem with that? Amazing. Simply creative connectivity between the different segments. Loved it

A point of mine very well put by one of the most distinguished Apple blogger:
Quote:
The high concept of Apple’s long-running “Get a Mac” TV campaign is that the characters portrayed by John Hodgman and Justin Long are personified computers. It’s right there in the opening lines of every ad in the series: “Hello, I’m a Mac.” “And I’m a PC.” Hodgman is not “Windows”; Long is not Mac OS X. They are not representative or average PC/Mac users. They are computers.

They’re not dressed as computers, they’re dressed as people. It’s postmodernism taken to a very silly and profoundly unserious commercial end.
Full Article. Must read. Though the end paras are very Mac fanboyish but the article makes a lot of sense.
