In RocketDock you can change the "style" which is identical to changing the "background" in ObjectDock free version and they both change "on the fly". This basically changes the dock graphics that the icons are arranged on.

I assume "skins" make more dramatic changes and I personally do not need that.

You will have have decide if that is worth $20 to you.

One feature I really like in the Objectdock free version is the ability to save your dock. RocketDock does not offer that option.

Well apparently ObjectDock and W7 do not play well together. I installed it 6 days ago. and here is what happened.

At first it was fine although I did notice the auto hide feature was slow and jerky sometimes. I changed the auto hide speed to the fastest setting and this helped but I still noticed it.

Over the course of several days this continued, then after 3 days it would just crash about once a day. Day before yesterday it crashed 3 times. last night it crashed about very 20 minutes.

It was like the performance was decaying over time. So for now I went back to RocketDock and guess what? I found a new volume docklet for my daughters laptop. Woo Whoo!!!

If you look at my desktop you will see three docks. bottom of screen 1 and top and bottom of screen 2. <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=captureqw0.jpg'><img src='http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7807/captureqw0.jpg' border='0'/></a><br/><a href="http://g.imageshack.us/img134/captureqw0.jpg/1/"><img src="http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/captureqw0.jpg/1/w2560.png" border="0"></a>

It is a Mac OS type of icon manager.

I have NO icons on my desktop. My frequently used incons are all parked on a dock (bar) at the bottom of my screen. I have the dock set to autohide so when I am not using it, it disapears off the bottom of my screen. When I move my cursor off the bottom of the screen my dock with the icons pop up.

See my desktop below. It shows the dock with auto hide turned off.

My moderately used icons are pinned to the start menu and the hardly ever used ones are in the all programs section of start menu.
