Exclamation Is Firefox really the Most Secure Web Browser? - 03-02-2009, 04:10 PM

Take a look at the Firefox security page, and note the top three marketing claims that Mozilla asserts:

-The large-font title of "The Safest Web Browser".
-The claim of "Firefox keeps your personal info personal and your online interests away from the bad guys."
-"When Are You At Risk? An independent study shows that, in 2006, IE users were vulnerable to online threats 78 percent of the time.

These three items provide some nice discussion by Jeff Jones, on - Can Mozilla Support Claims of Firefox Being the Most Secure Web Browser?

Full Read : Part-1 - Part-2 - Part-3.

If FF is greatly secure then why they are having tough time supporting MS based solution. The answer is Active-X. Would Firefox support Active-X and then yet be able to maintain their security claims?

Interesting post. It was more secure than IE7, but I am not so sure that unless you tweak it that it is more secure than IE8 and why doesn't it support Active X Also why have there been so many delays to the next version, these have been because of security flaws found out. If you consider the market share then yes it can claim to be more secure than IE, but then you know what they say Pride Comes before A Fall

no one is secured, firefox is not for sure.....i found IE8 more secured than FF, in private browsing feature, phising filter and many more options, which makes my browsing secure & safe.

To be honest I do not know,
I've installed two days ago IE 8 RC 1 on my desktop PC running XP PRO SP 3, for sure is better than IE 6/7, even if I suppose there are some issue with IE7 pro add on
I'have been using Firefox for many years and I still cannot figure out browsing the web in other ways
No browser is 100% secure I think.
I'll wait for Firefox 3.5

to express a judgment

I looked at your polls that you gave and one relates to IE7 and firefox2, which I did not know anyone was still using In testing for which there are numerous articles IE8 has proven to be far more secure than any other browswer, even more secure than FF3. which doesn't suprise me at all. Polls are always a matter of opinion not fact
