Default Win 7 RC x64 Detecting video card incorrectly

    Hi All,

Sorry if you have already discussed this, but for some reason my new install of Win 7 x64 is reading my ATI FirePRO V8700 as a V7760. I have tried installing the 9.4 cats from ATI, the latest (beta) FirePro drivers and manually installing the v8700 drivers (ATI Technologies Inc. driver update for ATI FirePro V8700 Duo (FireGL) (Prerelease - WDDM 1.1)) from the Windows 7 Driver Catalog.

I don't really care what the card is called, but it is preventing me from using 3d hardware acceleration.

    Any ideas?

Normally the Radeon Cats are different than the FireGL (or FirePRO) cats; in this case they included W7 drivers with the Radeon Cat download.

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the responses. I was able to manually install the V8700 card from the 9.4 cats.. go figure. BTW they are (already) WHQL certified.

    Windows 7 64bit

    Windows 7 32bit

I am going to try the 9.5's next
