Why don't you run the Windows7 Upgrade Advisor. That will tell you. In principle it should work. But don't expect a barnstormer.

I am not running Windows on the laptop. I cannot run the advisor.

I'm not a 'hardware guy', but I dont think a Celeron will run Windows 7.
This and this may however interest you.

Yes you can run Windows 7 with a Celeron Processor. Some people have even reported running Windows 7 on Celeron with 512mb memory as well. Will probably be a little sluggish but with a good amount of memory should be allright
Heres an article on a guy took an old pc and installed Windows 7 on it with the Celeron and 512mb memory
Also on here, check out the comments at bottom of page, several users saying they have done it and run's fine

The Celeron is fine. Similar to the single core Atom processor on the netbooks that is also a slow thing. And people do run Win7 on netbooks. There will be more of a problem with the 855M graphics. But there is a fix - read this: http://vinf.net/2009/01/12/windows-7...iver-solution/

well, W7 runs on a P2 with 266MHz CPU & 160MB RAM...
Windows 7 on a Dinosaur !
so anything better than that can run W7...
i´m also running W7 on my primary PC, a P4 with 1,7GHz CPU & 2GB RAM,
and everything works fine, so why should it not work on a Celeron ?

Windows performance score is not fantastic.
