Default DVD drive cannot open - Error code 10

A power outage erased my configuration on my F:/ drive. There is no response when I insert a disc. I have tried going to the drive to open it, but the folder
has an error icon on it, and when I try to open it a message shows: "cannot open....." code 10. How do I get the drive reconfigured so it will work again.

"Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 10."

Perhaps this article is what you need to read:
Explanation of error codes generated by Device Manager in Windows XP Professional

    Try running MS FixIT.

First try a system restore if that is possible and see if it helps you.

Else try and update the driver and see if it helps.

Else try Fix: Hardware devices are not detected or working in Windows | The Windows Club

Lastly, create a system restore point first. Open Device Manager, select the Device in Device Manager and delete/remove it. Reboot and let your Windows 7 or Vista re-install it automatically.

    Hope something helps
