HD will not boot
An 80gb spare Maxtor SATA HD that I use for sorage has XP installed but, will not boot.
Goes up to the Windows with the lines running L & R a few times & then reboots.
Tried the Repair with no success.
Then tried the Repair using the console & when it showed C:\Windows> I typed FIXBOOT it said it fixed it but still does not boot fully.
Then typed FIXMBR but it warns that this may damage the partition tables & the partitions may become inaccessible.
If you have no problem accessing the drive do not continue.
Are you sure you want to continue?
Do you think that fixing the MBR will make XP boot properly? .....thanx ....nick

-You try use HDD Regerator in Hiren's Boot disk ,test HDD (bad sector) ?
-You Sure Active HDD and -> BIOS ->first boot (HDD)
IF the problem not fix,you try step by step:
1.Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2.When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3.Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4.Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5.You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6.Command Promp ,You write -> chkdsk /p (test HDD and backup folder boot)
i hope you fix problem!!!
