Default External backing up - DVD or USB?

Some years ago I made a copy of a large number of Document folders, photograph folder and Emails by burning them onto a DVD. I have had problems in opening some of them and wonder if I would have been better advised to have placed them on a USB or one of the external back up web pages. I have to admit to not being very technically competent.

Both are as good as the other. It depends on the quality of the Drive.

Maybe your data had become corrupted and you are therefore unable to open some files.
