USB phone to PC connection / data transfer failure
I am trying to connect my new Lumia 435 Windows phone to my Windows Tablet PC via the cable supplied with the phone. It is clearly connecting as the phone is charged from the USB port. However, I cannot get the PC to detect the phone so I cannot transfer data between the two devices.
When connected with the USB cable the phone does not appear anywhere: in Devices, Portable Devices, Windows Explorer. The 'transfer my data' app says it cannot transfer.
I have read the Microsoft articles on connecting and syncing with USB / Bluetooth. I cannot find any solution to my problem. Can someone help with this?

Just confirming, did you unlock the phone first and then connect? If your device does not detect your phone, can you run the Phone app on your device? Maybe that will help...

I have run the phone app. It does not appear to have any effect. If I plug a USB Flash drive in it is immediatly recognised (sound alerts) ans shows up in Windows Explorer. Iexpected similar with the phone but it is simply not detected. What else can I try?

Connecting phone and PC
I still have some problems with conecting, eg.with WiFi, but my key issue is resolved. I sent for a replacement USB data / power cable and the phone connected right away. I had clearly been supplied with a dud cable by Microsoft Lumia.
