I use them rarely as I restore my OS disk image once in 3 months.

I use CCleaner for cleaning, and GlarySoft for optimizing. So far, I have never run into problems
^^ seti: They are just venturing into the anti-virus software (which they should have done long back), with probable anti-trust threats from other AV vendors. They creating their own reg cleaners, may again bring anti-trust cases

Thanks Ramesh for the registry file. I messed up the Bitlocker menu using the CCleaner registry cleaner. they are pretty dangerous to use...but if due to any reson it is compulsory to use then take a backup of registry before cleaning them....

A live example...Use CCleaner and you'll lose Turn On BitLocker context menu item from drives.

FIX: “Turn On BitLocker” menu is missing in Windows 7
The problem with CCleaner no logner exists...It has been fixed with latest version.

@ Admin: Can we merge the four post about registry cleaners?

@Jonhs123: Most IT professionals will advise against automatic registry cleaners because of the potential destruction they can do to the registry.

Having said that, I "Speed-Up" a lot of computers for people and I do use CCleaner to not only clean the registry but get all the garbage files off the machine. BUT after "I" have done this I disable the registry cleaner and set CCleaner to automatically clean the junk once a week in the background.

CCleaner - Home (Don't install the toolbar)

You have mentioned your computer may be slow in another post. The biggest factor is probably not your registry but Spyware. Spyware are malicious files that get installed on your machine when you visit websites.

There are hundreds of free programs out there to take care of this but two I use are Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy. After installing these just make sure you run a "Full" scan as opposed to quick scan to get everything cleaned up. After your done, occasional quick scans are good. For a few $$ you can get the paid version of Malwarebytes that will run all the time in background and run scheduled scans. This is what I use.

    Malwarebytes.org

    The home of Spybot-S&D!

Visit http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html to learn more about security. This site is done by one of our Moderators Corrine.

    Good Luck!!

    Hi welcome,
    Registry Easy is rogue/scareware

registryeasy.com | WOT Reputation Scorecard | WOT Web of Trust

Uninstall it immediately and run a full scan with MalwareBytes' Antimalware

    Malwarebytes.org

Thanks for that information Leofelix. I had never heard of it and never seen it advertised anywhere. If it doesn't answer anyone else it answers my question about it.
