Default Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) v2 has been released !

    hi !

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) v2 has been released !

ive been running MSE v2-beta since it was released, together with Emsisoft AntiMalware (EAM) and i have not had any real problems, just a few "application not responding" for a few seconds.

i really recommend MSE v2, it offers even more protection then MSE v1.

    more info: https://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

    download: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2-33d813687a7f

one very good WORKING combination is MSE & Avast...
the general recommendation is only ONE Antivirus-program with realtime-protection,
but there are exceptions, fx. Avast 5 was designed to be able to run together with MSE,
    both with realtime-protection on.

This is Version 2.0.657.0 and now out of Beta

Warning to anyone wanting to upgrade: Make sure to uninstall previous versions first. I didn't and was going the upgrade route and have now corrupted my MSE and have spent a half hour trying to manually remove MSE from the system to try to get it back working.

I downloaded it from the MSE Homepage, 32 Bit version. Not sure what happened but when I ran install it give me an error to locate epp.msi which was in the file that was selected. When I tried manually selecting it, it gave me an error saying it was corrupted......... find a valid installation. Not a problem I thought, afterwards I was unable to remove MSE from the pc until I manually removed it. Nothing worked so I did a System Restore to yesterday and got MSE Beta back. So far I have not been able to fix what has happened, and now I cannot install any Windows Updates or anything using Windows Installer and none of the FixIts have been able to fix the problem.

It appears that the newest version, 2.0.657.0 which was upgraded from the previous version is not working correctly for me. Every time I turn off my computer, the next time it starts up, MSE has been turned off !!! I have to manually turn it back on again. I have the proper boxes checked so, what's up with this latest version ????????????????

Well, after removing it and reloading the newest version of MSE, it now appears to be working fine. I hate those computer gremlins that raise havoc sometimes !!

I initially had issues when upgrading to the new version myself. I agree sometimes the gremlins do raise havoc.
