Run a Malwarebytes scan, it usually gets some of the major ones. Also, do a full scan using your installed antivirus program.

I'm not sure about posting links to other forums, but if it is allowed: there are experts at the forums at BleepingComputer.com that can analyze logs (HiJackThis) and help get rid of the virus without having to resort to formatting and reinstalling.

Can you identify and let us know the exact name of the malware? Is it the Win32 / Conficker Worm?

Which antivirus have you installed on your computer?

Please run your disk cleanup utility and use it to clear your junk files including your browser cache. Then schedule a boot-time scan of your antivirus or run the scan while in safe mode.

Also run the latest Malicious Software Removal Tool from Microsoft. You can get more details at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962007

    Hi, kate igenn.

If you are still having problems and would like additional assistance, I would need to see a couple of logs. If you ran Malwarebytes, I'd like to see that log as well.

Please download DDS.scr by sUBs and save it to your desktop: Link
    • Double-Click dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear, DDS.txt and Attach.txt.
    • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs.
    • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop.
    • Copy the contents of both DDS.txt and Attach.txt logs and post in your next reply.

According to the report at WOT Advanced System Protector is used for the distribution of "rogues" or similar applications.

Maybe you can reinstall your Windows.
