Default Windows defender automatically turned on by an update ?

    Hi !

Today i noticed that Windows Defender was on.
Even though i have 2 (TWO) antimalware-programs running with realtime-protection on....
    Im using WS2008-R2, not W8.

I suspect it was automatically turned on by an update a few days ago.
And the GUI looks (almost) like MSE...

Does anyone know which update is causing this ?
I only update manually, checking each update before downloading and installing them, and i have not seen any information about Windows Defender being updated and activated.

Have anyone else noticed the same ?

Open Control Panel→ Windows Defender and check your setttings !

You might have Windows Defender on without knowing it....

First time a heard a case where Windows defender was automatically turned ON.

No its is turned off in my case, still. When I clicked on the Windows defender icon I received the following message:

This app has been turned off and isnt monitoring your computer.

Disable and see if it is re-enabled again automatically.

    Thank you Andy.

Yes, i know its weird, its usually the opposite with Defender being turned off.
I restored a systembackup a few days ago, removed SCEP and upgraded EAM to a new version.
Something might have happened during that upgrade, athough it shouldnt.
Ive restored that backup to another partition, so im going to repeat the whole procedure just to see exactly what happens and when Defender is activated.

Problem solved: Defender activates when uninstalling EAM.
So this was not caused by an update.
