Question Computer name & security concern

    Hello

I'd like some advice regarding naming a computer !
I had my trusted XP Pro desktop upgraded to Win7 Home Premium 64bit
by a local computer business , but to my horror when i brought it home
i realized that they used my real name to name computer.
I've had a number of computers before but never one bearing my full name.
I have changed the user name.. but my real name appears on every scan, in task manager etc. I am very aware of the risks we face about privacy and all and I'm quite unhappy about this .
I've complained to the business concerned but they try to brush me off saying this is common practice and so far not offering any solutions.
Could someone tell me if i am right being concerned about this... and
most importantly how can i change this without further expense .

    Thanks in advance ..

I don't think it should be a problem having your real name as your computer name.

Nevertheless, if you feel like changing it, have a look at these two posts:

Or you could use our Ultimate Windows Tweaker to make the changes easily.

I would not worry about your real name. Surely that is located in some of your emails, Word documents, and other files.

I would be more worried about having strong passwords, keeping Windows fully updated, having a decent and current anti-malware solution, and avoiding be click-happy on unsolicited downloads, attachments, and link. Hanging your computer off a router will help hide you too.
