Default Make Vista Look & Behave Like Windows 7 - 11-12-2008, 06:47 PM

Here is a way to make Vista look & behave like Windows 7, based on 3rd party applications, modifications & resources.

1. Windows 7 Boot Screen by Vishal Gupta.

2. Logon Screen by pugalengthi.

3. Theme - Windows 7 Vista Style FINAL by ~giannisgx89

4. Wallpaper - Official PDC Blue Wally

5. Taskbar: Using Taskbar Iconizer or EnhanceMyVista freeware.

6. Right Click Menu hack using registry trick from AskVG.com.

7. Aero Snap

8. Aero Shake. More here.

9. Win 7 Calculator.

10. As Windows 7 won't be featuring a 'Sidebar' you can simply drag your gadgets out of the sidebar then:

- Right click on the Sidebar.
- Select Close Sidebar.

Now you won't have the sidebar obstructing your desktop wallpaper.

For Screen-shots, you may check out: Make Vista Look & Behave Like Windows 7 | I'm Just Being Manan

UPDATE:

11) Aero Peek comes to Vista/XP:

Lol, I was just going to make a similar article on this topic. Its hot topic right now

Check out WinSplit. It allows you to easily organize your open windows by tiling, resizing and positioning them to make the best use of your desktop real estate.

Also check out AeroNotes or this Windows 7 look-alike Notepad.

As and when new apps are developed or new tweaks found, this thread can be updated. Lets sticky it for a while and see.

Sure, that'd be a great idea.

I would like to add two points :

1. Windows 7 WordPad:

The major change we can see is the ribbon interface. Don’t worry! We have a solution for this too!! This free utility helps you get the Windows 7 WordPad looks (ribbon) in Vista notepad without any hassles.

Excellent is the only word I can say about this tiny, free, and beautiful notepad. This program has been designed by keeping in mind the Windows 7 notepad, which might be available by December.

|Download Windows 7 Wordpad Styled Notepad for Vista|

2. Windows 7 Explorer Pane:

Like all other Windows 7 feature, Windows 7 explorer has a new left pane which has new options like Libraries and Recent Places by default. The left pane looks good compared to Vista. So, here I have tried to revamp Vista explorer (left) pane into Windows 7.

As this is quite a long post, please read our “How to Get Windows 7 Explorer Pane in Vista

- From my "Mega Guide: Transform Vista Into Windows 7".
