I have used a program called Revo Uninstaller for a couple years to remove programs. They have a nifty little startup manager that is very simple to use

the usual methods. services.msc and msconfig or you can use autoruns tool from Sysinternals.

btw Manage Startup using Windows Defender is quite useful... I learnt when I appeared in MCTS Exam...

MSE disable Defender. You can check out iMav's link or use
msconfig
utility or freeware WinPatrol.

Or install Microsoft Security essentials. It automatically switches off Defender
