May I know why you suggest no third party personal firewall in XP SP 2 and above?

Why are you confused If you have XP then Vista is just great and any help you want you can get here or from MS. Don't be put off it by the rubbish that is out there about it, with the knoweldge that you have you'll be fine with it.

why are you still stuck on XP, use Vista with SP2 RC, it is very much better and fast, you really enjoy using it. and in my opinion chrome is not so good to use as default browser, use IE8, FF or opera for browsing.
