A little trick to rename multiple files without additional software

This really is a hidden gem.

Select all the files that you want to rename, for example a folder full of photos from a 2009 Holiday.

Press F2

Then rename the first file I.E "DSCF00234" to "2009 Holiday" and press the enter key.

all files will rename to "2009 Holiday" / "2009 Holiday (2)" ETC.

No need for that extra program.

Why press F2. It works the same without pressing F2.

OK, got you. It is indeed convenient for renaming multiple files. I click on the name field below the picture - after highlighting it. But that works only for renaming a single file.

thanks JR, handy tip.....but one thing before doing renaming like this, first copy the data with real names to another place, unless once renamed you'll never able to get them from there real names...
