Disable Store App Auto-update in Windows 8.1
Here’s a small tip:
If you are a Windows 8.1 user, you might have noticed that you are not seeing any app updates count on the Store Tile, that is no Store tile notification is seen. Because with Windows 8.1, store apps automatically update in the background & this feature its quite useful.
Earlier in Windows 8 one used to get Store tile notification as and when any of your installed Store app got any updates.
In Windows 8.1, Store is by default configured to automatically download and update the app. And many of us prefer this as we know that our apps will always be up-to-date. But for those interested in what’s and which apps were updated will have no idea with such auto update. But we can turn off this default auto update of Store app feature.
So for this Open Windows Store , from Charms settings> App updates
and set ‘Automatically update my apps’ to No

No reason to disable auto-update - but useful if you are travelling or on a data plan!
Thanks for the tip!

Yes, most of the users would prefer auto-update as all of their apps will always be current with latest update. But with no notification center, there won't be any indication what has changed in their app , if the new update brought any new features etc. So when auto-update is off, those interested can manually update the app and also see what's new in that update.
Actually I have switched this auto update off just to know whcih apps are getting what new features in this Windows 8.1..
In future we might get to see some kind of notification center in Windows.....
