Error 0x80004005 while installing Flash Update KB3087040 for Internet Explorer
While trying to download and install Security Update KB3087040 for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10, I received Error 0x80004005. Many people have been reporting this error on Microsoft Answers.
If you too are facing this issue, I suggest you visit KB3087040 and download the package for your system. It will install.

There appears to be many of these error codes but for various reasons. This update was in a bundle with an update for Windows Defender, that downloaded and installed OK but this one for Flash Player keeps failing. The issue is widespread, but fortunately there’s a very simple fix for it. You simply need to download and install the update manually instead of using Windows Update.

I also got the same Flash Update error last week and got the same Error. Event Log analysis will surely help you. in my case it was an app which was troubling. careful Application log analysis will help you. Also post the detailed Error description if possible.
