Default Vista download problems - 07-16-2008, 01:27 AM

I can't seem to receive any downloads. Everytime I try to download something
from the internet, my computer goes through the act of downloading but I
can't seem to find it. Even when I give the download a specific destination,
it never shows up. Do I have a setting wrong somewhere ? Please help, I'm
going crazy!

Clear your internet cache and see if it helps.

Try a downloader - there's plenty of free ones on the web - and see if it
solves the issue. You can try Firefox or other browser as well. IE does not
d/load files in certain conditions: "if a website tries to download files to
your computer without your permission or if you requested a file but the
download did not start immediately."

What are you using to download? You might wanna try out resetting IE, if that is what you are using.

You don't download from a disk. You copy from a disk. What antivirus
are you using? Some AVs intercept downloads to a quarantine directory,
then copy the files to the destination directory after a clean scan. If the
lights on your modem are blinking during download, the file is being
downloaded onto your PC. It's just a matter of, "where?" Have you
done a file search for a downloaded file for which you know the filename?

Just thought of something else. When you download, does the IE
download window show the download progress, speed, etc., then
indicate when done? If so, it is downloading properly, but to an
unknown location on your drive.
