Thread: Bootmgr problem

i have an hp laptop with vista installed. a black screen pops up saying bootmgr now ive looked in other places and they all say to use the recovery disk but i dont have one. i was able to access command prompt last night but now the f11 key for system recovery is not working any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

You must have to Windows Recovery Disc or Retail disc to repair Bootmgr issues.
Bootmge is compressed occurs due to compression of primary partition, in which bootmgr is placed during installation.

^^ exactly if in ur primary partition properties if the check box"Compress drive to save disk space is checked" is ticked then u that leads to bootmgr issues so u would need a recovery disc to repair the bootloader files in VIsta and win 7
