Disk Cleanup will clear all except the latest restore point. Do you mean to say that it doesnt clear any of the old restore points ? Can you give us the exact error message?
Meanwhile try using CCleaner: |MG| CCleaner Slim 2.24.1010 Download
Also if you find that you have sufficient disk space and yet continue to get the messages, if you wish, you can disable this error message using Ultimate Windows Tweaker v2, a Tweak UI for Windows 7 & Vista | The Windows Club See in Additional Tweaks.

I certainly know what they are talking about I have gotten the low disk message since my pc was just a month old. No matter what you do every time you start Windows you get a white picture of a disk in the tray that says you are low on space in disk 'd'.
The message keeps telling you to delete stuff that is no longer needed but I have nothing left but the stuff I want to keep.
