    Default Black Screen of Death

    Hi.

I have the Black Screen of Death.

I have checked the registry and it seems fine.

I disabled logfiles, and it made no difference.

From ntbtlog.txt. I see that the system drivers are alright, but there are problems with other drivers. I cannot identify where the problems lie.

I have a Dell Vista installation disk (tried the repairs), and a Dell drivers CD.

Is there a way to copy all the drivers from say the Dell Vista disk to the correct directories on my system?

If not, any other suggestions to geta the system to boot.

This is important. I cannot run Vista and am gaining access through a Live UBUNTU pendrive. Hence any solutions witll need to run through UBUNTU.

Any advice please (I realise that I may need to re-install Vista).

    Thanks

    Hi there!

Most of the times just running a Startup Repair will do the trick. Sometimes we need to run it 3 separate times.

It has not yet worked for me.

Any idea how to run sfc from within the Dell Vista install/repair disk?

The command prompt appears to run as administrator, but all I get is the message: 'Windows resource protection could not perform operation'.

I also note that the command runas is not recognised.

    Best wishes,

    A

The link applies to those who can run sfc.

I cannot access Vista, and sfc does not run from the Dell Vista install CD.
