Default Windows resource protection could not perform operation

I am trying to use sfc / scannow.

I cannot boot Vista so I am using the Dell Vista installation disk, and its command prompt utility.

When I try to use sfc, I get the message: 'Windows resource protection could not perform operation'.

Can someone tell me how to overcome this problem?

If I can scan, how can I initiate repairs?

    Thanks

    Thanks for responding.

Unfortunately, Vista will not boot so I cannot access the command prompt from there. The Dell Vista install CD that I have will not allow sfc.

    Best wishes.

This looks like I need the full Vista CD.

I have the Dell Vista CD.

I doubt if it will work
