    Default Screensavers and activation

    Hi,

I seem to have the desktop permanantly activated when not in use.

My question is, why is my screensaver not being used. What could be preventing its activation?

    Thanks

Pls check if you have activate screensaver from : Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization\Screen Saver settings.

Do you have a software which prevents your Pc from going to sleep? Any setting change? Any scheduled task running when PC is idle?

Also check if you using a wireless / optical mouse? If so, that could be a possible reason. Try disconnecting and see if it helps.
Pls also see: The screen saver does not start after you install a wireless pointing device
Update the drivers if need be.

    Thanks for responding.

I had the power set so that the screen went to sleep.
The screen saver is now working.

Just a questions about the clock screen saver that I am using.

As you know, screen savers were designed to prevent burns on the older mionitors. I am using a modern monitor and have the clock set to show hours and minutes (the colours are quite intense). Would it be a good idea to activate the second hand in order to refresh the pixels, or is this unnecessary.

    Thanks

    A
