Default How to change Recycle Bin Full Empty icons

    Hi,

I am looking to replace some of my desktop icons.

All the desktop icons are one icon, however the recycle bin shows either full or empty.

If I download a single icon will it automatically show full/empty as the Vista bin icon does?

I don't understand how this icon works, it appears not to be a single icon.

    Thanks

Ps. Have you come across a good icon site (I know there are many - Google). I know of DeviantArt

You can change icons from the default icons easily, via Control Panel > Personalization > Change desktop icons.

But if you want to display custom icons for Recycle Bin - Full and Recycle Bin - Empty, I think you will have to modify the imageres.dll file using Resource Hacker - and that's not exactly an easy job! It will not show full/empty automatically. You will have to set different icons.

Apart from DA, IconArchive.com is good, else you can try Bing.com Image Search.

    Thank you.

I think that I will leave the Recycle Bin as it is.

I have just had a look at ...Personalisation - Change Desktop Icons. It looks like I could simply change the 'full' icon to another of my choice, and the 'empty' icon to another of my choice.

    Best wishes.

    Andy,

If I change the Recycle Bin icons and find I don't like them, how easy is it to change back to the default icon?

    Thanks

Changing back to the default items is easy, provided you have not hacked or edited the imageres.dll file.

I for one have always stayed away from changing the Recycle Bin icons.

If changing back is easy, what is the problem?

I meant changing them to non-system third-party icons by hacking the icons dll file.
