Unhappy Downloading and Installing Adobe Reader.

    Hi,
Will anyone please help me to install Adobe Reader 9 in my PC. I'm tired of trying it. It shows an error message, 1606, "could not access network location %APPDATA%\". I've tried uninstalling the old one & then installing but it didn't work. Please respond.

Ammu you should go to given url, you will definitely find your answer
Mainly this error generate only when we install or remove any program. Its not just the case of Adobe Reader.

You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program

I was going to suggest running the MS Cleanup utility but it is tricky if you are using MS Office 2007.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

If you are using MS Office 2007 I suggest you use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Office 2007, run the cleanup utility, install Adobe Reader, and reinstall MS Office.

If you just want a PDF reader, Foxit (Foxit Software - Foxit Reader 3.0 for Windows ) is a much better option. Adobe is a pain in the neck and very heavy handed. Plus they bother you with updates all the time.

I agree with whs. Foxit is a good PDF reader. IMHO, its better than Adobe Reader which is quite bloated.

For making/merging PDFs I use PDF reDirect
