vSubst v1.8.0.1 Freeware

From developers site
Creates drive-letters for any folders on your harddisk. Useful to create virtual drives e.g. on laptops.
Allows easy removal of all virtual folders (= Visual 32-Bit-SUBST-Command).
Limitations:
• Some copy-protected CD-ROMs check for the physical presence of a disk...
• Volume-Label is always identical to the host label.
• vSubst just creates a virtual drive like the old subst-command - nothing more or less.
• Tested on Windows 7 (32-Bit).

DON'T use SCANDISK, DEFRAG, FORMAT, FDISK or similar programs on virtual drives!

TRICKS:

- Copy a CD-ROM to your harddisk (e.g. C:\Atlas\..),
then create a virtual drive letter for it. Your
virtual CD will be *very* fast!

- Use the [Persistent]-button for automatic substi-
tutions at user logon (vSubst needs to be in the
current path, e.g. C:\Windows).

- Start with "high" letters (e.g. Z to avoid
conflicts with scanner & camera drivers.

LIMITS:

- Some copy protected applications check for a phy-
sical CD-ROM, no luck with SUBST

- Substitutions don't work on network-drives (use
«NET USE X: C:\Folder /PERSISTENT:Yes» instead)!
