The next thing Windflower would be good if you could post a screenshot/image of the problem icons if they still exist.

Apologies Andy,
Appears myself and Windflower have hi-jacked this thread.

Good morning, Elmer B!
Guess what? All my Office icons are now displaying correctly. I cannot begin to thank you enough for your assistance in all of this and the time you took to walk me through it. You are one awesome dude!

Yes, sorry, Andy. I apologize for hijacking the thread. I think I was just so relieved (and excited) to finally be getting some assistance that I lost track of the original topic.

I have tried the fix & it has restored the icons ............... but
after a reboot I'm back to no icons. They stay if fixed & I don't reboot.
So I'm 50/50 on the results right now.
Is there something more that I can do to permanently fix this problem.
Hi HappyAndyK,
First of all, thx for your Icon Cache Rebuilder.
There is my feedback:
I use Win 7 64bits, and your method to rebuild the icon cache manually doesn't work for me but Icon Cache Rebuilder works.
But the weird thing is i must launch Icon Cache Rebuild for each windows reboot to restore my desktop icons... may be you know why?
Cheers
Try running it as an admin and see if it helps.
Could any other of your installed software be interfering with it in any way?
Tried but that changes nothing,
At windows start IconCache.db is in %user%local folder, when i launch Icon cache Rebuilder, my desktop icons are actually restored but IconCache.db disappear, i dont know where windows store the new IconCache.db.
May be CCleaner mess up my windows
