Default Microsoft proposes "Browser Ballot Screen" to the EU

As previously known, Microsoft was planning to ship Windows 7 in Europe without Internet Explorer. But now, reports are saying that users could be given the choice of which browser to install when they install Windows 7 in Europe as proposed by Microsoft to the European Commission.

A proposed version of the ballot screen is available here.

I personally do not see any problems with that at all. It should answer all the knockers objections, but not doubt someone will find something wrong with it. Thanks for the posting

IMO its just other companies clutching at straws... I would like to know if Macs sold in the EU are going to have to do the same thing??? (What's good for one and all that).

It appears that any browser maker with over 0.5 percent Windows browsing marketshare would be eligible to be on the screen, with a maximum of 10 allowed options.

After doing so much opera still have problems, now they are saying that the symbol of IE, the blue e logo is like the symbol of Internet and most the users will select IE8....WTF!!! i don't think the Europe's people are not so illitreate that they won't check the other options....but if the opera's CEO thinks like that, then he may be....

and the most important thing is that people will select, what is best and secure......and it is only IE8 .

I think this Browser Ballot thing totally ****s !! What European Commission think is that Europeans are dumb ?? c'mon man why they want this ?? do Europeans are cutted from the world or they don't know how to get information from the web.....or they are not able to choose what is right or wrong for them ??

sorry for language but what European Commission wants is really pittiable...
