Thumbs up Windows 7 Boots in 11 Seconds!

Microsoft and Intel have been collaborating for decades, but for the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system, they say that they have collaborated more closely than ever before. The result is improvements such as the ability to boot the operating system within 11 seconds.

They showed that a vanilla version of Windows 7 can boot in just 11 seconds, particularly if it’s running on a four-core Intel processor that can do eight tasks at the same time, thanks to an Intel technology dubbed hyperthreading.

Awesome! I have never checked or worried about Windows 7 boot time.

Just rebooted my Windows 7 system. Windows 7 takes 38 seconds to boot on my C2D system.

I just rebooted W7 in my vBox virtual partition. That took 33 seconds - amazing. It should, however, be said that this is not a production system. I am using it just for testing and there are only few extra programs installed.

You can use Boot Timer to measure it exactly.

Boot Timer does not seem to work in the W7 running in the vBox virtual partition - at least it does not show any result. But I have my good old stopwatch. That works.

Interesting.... My PC also rocks with Windows 7.
The most important thing I noticed..about Power Management.
It works more than 4 Hrs on 6-cell battery...even Ubuntu Linux gives hardly an hour.
