Question Windows Framework has stopped working error message

Let me start by saying that I'm an old hat at trying to get older software to run on subsequent Windows operating systems, having been at it for about 20 years.

I have a particular brand of educational software I'm having the same problem with, and I don't seem to be able to get around it. Other than virtualisation, does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve for getting a program to work following this particular issue? Installation and opening screen is fine, but when going to launch actual program, I get the error message:

    Windows Framework has stopped working

Am hoping an update to the .NET Framework in the future may fix it, should I hold my breath?

Well lets hope an update fixes this issue.

Meanwhile you want to try the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool? It will fix a corrupted .NET Framework, if it is so...

Thank you, I was reluctant as the system requirements are only up to & including Windows 7.
