Default Should I upgrade to Windows 7 RC

Hi guys I have decided to upgrade to windows 7 as soon as it hits the shelves in January.

Is it worth me downloading and installing the "Release Candidate" on May 5th. I know it will last a year but is it ready to go the whole way?

Should I remove Vista and have a nice clean install?

I would be using Vista as my main OS and using W7 on another partition, till W7 RTMs Thats what I'd suggest and thats what Microsoft still suggests.

Is there still a risk of losing personal files?

I've been using Win 7 as my primary OS for a long time, no major issues, but don't remove Vista as yet. Let be safely tucked away on that other partition

Don't remove Vista. Just keep Windows 7 in dual boot with Vista.

Right so I'm planning on putting Win 7 RC on a separate partition. Do I need to leave enough room for programs or will the programs installed through vista be able to run in Win 7 while accessing them through their program folders?

Personally I would think not but some clarification is always nice

You will re-install, but can save hdd space by isntalling them on 7 giving the location as that in vista. I hope you got what I mean to say?

In my opinion, install Windows 7 on a separate partition (I recommend min 20 GB) rather than installing on VPC. You can access those Vista programs in 7.

Even though Microsoft suggests, of not to install it as your primary OS, it is from a legal perspective (my thought !).
I have been using Windows 7 as my primary OS, without a dual boot, ever since the beta (Jan 09). And thankfully, I never had crashes in the past 4 months .

Even i have been using it as my primary OS since late december. No probs. Have not though of using Vista ever since. Have not had too. You can safely move over to Windows 7.
